Britain’s wartime leader Winston Churchill towers over the 20th century – his speeches, his cigar, his V for victory sign, resonate through time. 

On the 40th anniversary of Churchill’s death Professor Richard Holmes went in search of Britain’s greatest war time leader, in a new television format of travel biography. He revisited many of the key locations in Churchill’s life, from beautiful Blenheim Palace to the battlefields of El Alamein in Egypt in this 8 part series for BBC2 and BBC4.
